Jump all over visitors
Drag you down the street on walks
Bark just for the fun of it
Push through doorways
Chase the cats
Have selective hearing
Steal things
Do zoomies around the house
Or have any other bad manners you'd like to fix?
You get real world practice and experience, all with very specific feedback and guidance at every step of the way.
Stop any of the bad manners from the list above that you'd like to fix (with one simple method that works for everything)
Be calm around other dogs and listen to you no matter what else they'd rather be doing
Wait nicely at doorways for permission to come through, even when they're over excited and usually wouldn't listen
Sit on the first command (even when they'd prefer not to) and hold it for 2-5 minutes, under high distraction such as squeaky toys, someone ringing the doorbell, etc. All without saying STAY.
Stay on their bed when told to for as long as an hour or more, no matter how much they'd prefer to do anything else - we use toys and other distractions to strengthen this command. This is a massive one for teaching your dog self control - a skill they need to develop in order to resist their impulsive bad manners
Hold a drop under all types of distractions, without ever saying stay - this also does wonders for building their self control skills very quickly
Learn manners around food and treats - including not to beg
Walk nicely on lead around the other dogs without them pulling on the lead to get to each other
Know the basics of recall so they have the skills to come back when you call them
Learn not to cross boundaries, jump on other people or sook or bark in class, using the other class participants as a distraction, with the same process that you can then apply to anything you want to fix at home
Train your dog with confidence
Influence their mood to calm them down or get them excited as needed
Understand your dog on a deeper level
Notice any subtle pushy behaviours and know what to do about them
Become the clear leader in your dog's eyes - someone they choose to look to for direction when they're uncertain or tempted to act on impulse, but know they shouldn't
Know what to do when your dog does something you've never seen before
All dogs are on lead at all times and completely safe. They are not allowed within reach of each other at any time.
The first couple of sessions always feel a little chaotic. That's completely normal, as most of the dogs are there because they bark at other dogs, pull on the lead, jump on people, won't listen to their owners, are anxious, fearful or overexcited, etc.
Every time your dog misbehaves is an opportunity to teach them something. Class environments are the perfect chance to shape your dog's behaviours because they provide lots of teaching opportunities.
By the end of the course your dog will know how to behave and you'll know what to do if they muck up.
We train in a secure yard on private property with shelter from the sun and rain, with every part specifically designed for the Manners Course.
In the instance of extreme weather, we postpone the class.
We cover all of the things you need in order to have a well mannered dog at the end of the course.
You'll learn all of the foundation skills in the training space and then for exercises such as walking nicely on lead, we'll test their ability (and yours) by heading out on a short walk along the bike path outside, so you can get help and feedback from your trainer on a real walk.
In the final week, you'll be invited (one at a time) into a secure, mock living room. From there you'll let your dog off lead with the opportunity to teach them not to jump on the couch, yourself or the trainer or steal things from the floor or coffee table or run out the door (that opens into a secure, empty yard). No matter how excited they are to be off lead in a new space, you'll know how to teach them manners using different tones of voice.
This experience brings everything you've learnt together and ensures there are no missing pieces between what you learn in class and how you apply the techniques at home. With the trainer's guidance, you'll be able to get your dog to listen to you and have good manners and you'll be able to address any niggly sticking points that might still be happening at home.
Between the classes and well beyond the end of the course, you and the other students in your specific course will have your own WhatsApp Group to ask anything at all, share wins and challenges and stay connected and motivated.
The weekday Manners Course is a small group course, capped at 6-7 dogs.
4 x 90 minute weekly, small group experiential classes with very personalised and hands on guidance and tuition
2 x Training Topup sessions - these are group classes designed to maintain the training after the course is completed. These run twice a month and you'll have 3 months to book yours in before they expire
Training equipment in a colour of your choice, provided and fitted correctly for maximum comfort
Support between classes in a closed WhatsApp Group - purely for your specific Manners Course Group
Resource videos to refresh your memory between classes (or catch you up if you miss a class)
Lifetime support in our online community way beyond the course completion

We cover all of the things you need in order to have a well mannered dog at the end of the course. All of the things described above.
The weeknight course also includes an hour long drop whilst we do a big Q&A session in class, where you can ask anything at all and we can go through any niggly sticking points that might still be happening at home.
We also bring in roast chicken and plates and have a pretend BBQ to teach the dogs manners around food.
Not only are they taught to respect your space whilst you're holding a plate of food, but then the trainers will also come around, holding a plate of food and your dog will learn not to hassle us either.
They'll also learn not to jump on the table, steal food that falls on the ground, etc.
The chicken is then used as an added distraction for loose lead walking and recall, getting them to focus on you instead of the chicken.
And yes, they get to eat the chicken at the end - not because they've "earnt it", but because we feel like giving them a treat.
The weeknight Manners Course is a slightly larger, but still intimate, group course where you'll learn how to do everything outlined at the top of this page and more.
5 x 90 minute weekly, small group experiential classes (capped at 12 dogs) with very personalised and hands on guidance and tuition from 2 trainers
Training equipment in a colour of your choice, provided and fitted correctly for maximum comfort
Support between classes in a closed WhatsApp Group - purely for your specific Manners Course Group
